The companionway is almost ready for full use.
Sean cut the aluminium frame of the hatch, installed the stainless steel exterior frame for the washboard and build the washboard.
The ladder is installed with proper brackets and a locking pin on the wall, as well as U-shaped floor mounted brackets that Dan built.
Overall we are very happy with the design and general outcome. Initial concerns that the width was too narrow to make in and out easily turned out to not be a problem.
the stainless steel used for the exterior frame is too thin. Touching it reminds me of a razor blade… – in addition, sitting on it is not very comfortable. We therefore decided to replace that with a relatively thick piece of teak. Will share photos once that final part is done.
