Bermuda to Nahant – short film

The last video of our tour to the Caribbean and back in 2010/11.

We had left Tioga for 4 weeks on a mooring in Bermuda to sail her back when it’s warm again in New England and to make use of the long Memorial Day weekend. This was our by far calmest Gulf Stream crossing – no “weather feature” on the open ocean but the so far heaviest thunderstorms ever (close to shore; the remnants of the tornado that devastated areas around Springfield, MA etc – link). We ended up taking the sails down and drifted close to the Cape Cod shore – what a light show, very scary!

For those in countries where this youTube video does not play:

  1. The day of the tornado, I was anchored off of Greenwich, Ct on a 110′ tall ship. Fortunately, we only got a few sprinkles and a lightning show in the distance. Could have been so much worse!
